How to Care for Your Cuticles
Does it seem that no matter what you do, your cuticles always feel dry and neglected? Do you use lotions but the cuticles always answer with redness and roughness?
The short answer solution is diligence. We use our hands so much (and I tend to wash mine frequently) and while we pay attention to filing and painting them, the skin that surrounds the nail seems to get forgotten.
I have found a few products that really seem to help keep mine smooth and tidy.
- I probably should not start this list with my favorite product because it has been discontinued or at least has become extremely difficult to locate – the Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Cuticle and Nail Refiner. It is an exfoliation product for your nails and cuticles and leaves mine unbelievably smooth.
- One of my recent finds on Etsy has been a lifesaver, the Ultra Protein Rich Nail Serum from PamperedSkinCare. I've been using it as a nail soak (added a few drops to warm water) as well as just applying it directly. It has made a huge difference in both my cuticles and my nails.
- If you prefer something creamier, I highly recommend either the Lavender Organic Shea Butter Balm or the Rose Garden Organic Shea Butter Balm. I proudly own both because I could not choose between the scents. The butter seems to melt right into my nails and cuticles and works amazingly well especially after using the refiner mentioned above.
While these are great at-home products, I would also recommend keeping hand cream in your purse or at your desk so that you can apply it after every handwashing. We rarely go a day without caring for our complexions in some way, and our hands would appreciate the same love!
